Straight Talk
Straight Talk is an exciting and interactive presentation designed to reach teens with information regarding the safest form of protection from high risk sexual behaviors. Abstinence until marriage is a risk avoidance approach similar to programs designed to help teens avoid the risks of substance abuse and violence. We use appropriate terminology to discuss the risks of early sexual activity, such as alcohol and drug use, depression, sexually transmitted disease, unplanned pregnancy and abortion. We illustrate how birth control and “alternate” forms of sexual activity cannot protect the mind, heart and even the body. Special emphasis is placed on helping teens see the value of developing meaningful relationships, as well as the benefits of delaying sexual activity until marriage. All teens are encouraged to respect themselves and each other while protecting their future and learning why they are worth the wait. Currently active teens are encouraged to re-evaluate their relationships and challenged to make healthier lifestyle choices.
